Frequently asked questions

🧰 To-Do List Before Arrival
1. Plumbing Ready
Please make sure the plumbing is in good working order before we arrive. Dripping faucets or active leaks must be fixed. The drain does not need to be removed.

2. Fresh Paint Alert
If there’s new wall paint, masking tape may occasionally pull off fresh paint—especially near the tub’s front skirt where the sheetrock is close.

3. Clear the Space
Please remove loose items such as shower curtains, rugs, window curtains, and items on counters. We’ll handle all necessary masking and surface protection.

4. Comfort Zone
We need electricity and running water in the bathroom. If it’s cold, we may also need heat to ensure proper coating temperature.
⚙️ Refinishing Process
How long does it take to refinish a tub?
Typically 4 to 7 hours, depending on condition and prep work required.
How long do I have to wait before I can use my tub after refinishing?
You can use it after 16 hours once the coating has fully cured.
How long will the refinishing last?
Our refinishing can last many years when maintained properly. It includes a 5-year warranty against peeling, bubbling, or discoloration caused by material or workmanship issues.
Will there be fumes?
Yes, minor fumes occur during the coating process. We vent all fumes outside with a commercial exhaust system to keep your home safe.
Do you change any of the plumbing fixtures?
No — plumbing repairs (leaks, broken fixtures, etc.) must be completed by a  plumber before we begin work.
🧴 Maintenance & Care
What cleaners can I use?
Use non-abrasive cleaners such as Scrubbing Bubbles, Dawn, Method, or Simple Green.Avoid products that contain bleach, ammonia, acids, or abrasive powders (like Comet, Ajax, or Bar Keepers Friend) — these void the warranty.
Can I use a bathmat or suction cups?
No. Bathmats and suction cups trap moisture and can cause the coating to lift or peel.
Can cosmetics or hair dyes damage the finish?
Yes — hair dye, self-tanning products, and strong essential oils can permanently stain or damage the coating.
🔧 Common Questions
Can I refinish my tub with a DIY kit?
We don’t recommend it. Store-bought kits use weak coatings that yellow, chip, and dry unevenly. Professional refinishing uses industrial-grade coatings and bonding agents for durability and appearance.
Why not just buy a new bathtub for $300?
Replacing a tub involves demolition, plumbing, tile repair, and disposal — often costing several thousand dollars. Refinishing is faster, cleaner, and delivers a like-new finish in a single day.
What happens if client damages the bathtub outside the warranty? Can you fix the issue? Will it require new refinishing?
Yes — we can repair damage that happens outside the warranty.
If the coating is only scratched, lightly chipped, or stained (for example, from hair dye, self-tanning products, or essential oils), we can usually perform a localized spot repair.
Repairs outside the warranty are available for a small service fee, which depends on the commute time to the client and usually is around $100.
